Hey everyone,
The Thinking Log is back.
Previous themes of masculinity, connection, and therapy will undoubtedly show up moving forward, but the next ring of the Log’s trunk feels like an outward expansion. An expansion to surround questions of consciousness and the meaning of life. Mostly through lenses of philosophy, psychology, and physics that I do not fully understand.
Ya know, small talk.
If that or what you go on to read doesn’t resonate or feel good, that’s okay. Please feel free to unsubscribe. In a world guilty of amusing itself into general ambivalence and gooning for notifications, I understand not wanting another email in your inbox. Super valid!
For those who stick around, I promise to maintain the same authenticity, small to medium amounts of clairvoyance at best and most importantly, an insatiable curiosity and awe of this funny thing we call the human experience.
I like to allow myself the space to dream of what this community could become, but this version - to start - is pretty simple. A place for me to pull thoughts of wonder from an overstimulated brain. A place to metabolize what I’m reading, observing, and experiencing. As always, I welcome contributions from other Loggers. Think Dumbledore and Harry at the Pensieve. Shoutout The Pensieve ⚗️.
I hope this can be a counterweight to daily ambiguity and global uncertainty. A space to play with questioning, with wonder and awe. And to hold space for perspectives greater than our own.
It’s also not my intention to make this political. I acknowledge the privilege that comes with being able to write about ideas that have no immediate consequence. Not that they have to. I just hope that this reads like a safe space and/or breath of fresh air. No matter how big or small. And that if one new perspective or thought is digested, perhaps the collective empathy thermometer goes up just a little bit.
I have no idea what I’m going to write next. It probably won’t be weekly. Maybe monthly? Or whenever something has had time to settle. All I know is that since we last gathered on The Log, building Koomba and moving out of my mom’s house to New York City, my brain has changed.
Like really changed. I’m excited to explore that with you.
Thank you for being here and talk to you soon 🪵
